Job Description
This position is for a Medical Lab Scientist I to join a leading health care diagnostics company. The role is based at a central laboratory facility, where the Safety Testing Team is seeking a long-term addition to their group.
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
- Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
- Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
- Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
- Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
- Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
- Assist with the processing of specimens when needed.
- Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or related field.
- Minimum 1+ years of experience working in a CLIA certified or CAP accredited lab.
- Instrument troubleshooting and calibration experience.
Skills & Qualifications
- ASCP or AMT certification is preferred.
- Prior validation experience.
- Proficient with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills.
- Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.
The role is based onsite at the Indianapolis facility with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 1st shift from 7am to 4pm.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
