Overview
This is a full-time position in the Orthopedics Department/Carmel, Indiana.
Responsibilities- Work with providers in an outpatient clinic under supervision of the clinic/practice manager and providers.
- Perform duties associated with direct patient care in accordance with organization standards.
- Assist providers with in-office procedures, treatments, casting, patient education, and assuring efficient patient flow.
- Educate patients on next steps in the treatment plan, home exercise programs, or bracing.
- Possibly perform computerized provider order entry per provider.
- Participate in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve set outcomes, and enhance operational efficiency.
- May perform duties associated with symptom-management, direct in-clinic patient care, telehealth patient care, quality improvement activities, and other duties as assigned.
- Rooming: vitals, history and physical exam, determine if x-rays are needed, present to physician.
- Placing needed orders per provider (PT, MRI/CT, etc.).
- Preparing any in-office procedures (injections, aspirations, ultrasound exams, PRP, etc.).
- Global period patients: complete history, physical examination, and plan of care based on physician recommendations.
- Triaging and addressing patient calls and messaging.
- Obtaining prior authorization per provider request.
- Manage paperwork including, but not limited to FMLA, disability, workers' compensation, etc.
- Casting/splinting
- Staple or stitch removal
- Wound care
- Home exercise programs
- Patient education
- DME
- Manual therapy
- Clinical/Procedure Chart Prepping
- Scheduling Assistance as needed
- Medical Instrumentation Logistics
- Prescription Education and Review
- Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Athletic Training is required.
- Indiana State Athletic Training Licensure or eligible required.
- Must be a Board of Certification (BOC) Certified Athletic Trainer.
- AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or Red Cross Professional Rescuer required.
- Other certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
- 0-3 years of experience required.
