Damar is currently seeking a Specialized Initiatives Technician to join our highly skilled team for full‑time opportunities at our main residential setting on the Southwest side of Indianapolis where we provide services.

The Specialized Initiatives Technician - IGH is responsible for performing a variety of para‑professional tasks related to the care of individuals served in various Specialized Initiatives and Programs within Damar. Essential duties include:

• Client supervision and care
• Crisis management
• Promoting appropriate social behaviors
• Supporting clients in achieving their maximum potential
• Assisting with daily living, self‑help, and social skills development
• Executing behavior management plans to reduce maladaptive behaviors
• Maintaining a safe and healthy environment, including housekeeping tasks (cleaning, laundry, bed linen, etc.)
• Operating Damar vehicles or personal vehicles to transport residents or perform other work‑related duties
• Following physician’s orders to properly administer medication to clients
• Providing crisis support, including verbal intervention or physical management techniques as needed
• Reporting any rights violations promptly

Day Shift (7:00 am – 7:00 pm) or Night Shift (7:00 pm – 7:00 am). Must be available for assignment during shift hours.

• Age 18–21 or 21+ (Damar encourages applicants under 21 for other roles)
• High school diploma or GED
• Pre‑employment physical
• Background screening (no felony convictions, no substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal offenses)

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting and provide direct care. Tasks include:

• Stand or sit for prolonged periods; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist as needed
• Lift, carry, push, pull light to moderate weights up to 35 lbs
• Operate office equipment and computer keyboard
• Travel to other locations via private or commercial transportation
• Communicate verbally to exchange information
