Overview

IU Health, Indiana's largest comprehensive health system with 16 hospitals and more than 34,000 team members, is looking for an experienced sonographer to improve the lives of patients and families. This full‑time position at Riley Hospital for Children runs Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

Perform high‑risk obstetric ultrasounds in collaboration with Maternal‑Fetal Medicine specialists and fetal interventionalists. Scope includes: first‑trimester anatomical assessments, detailed second‑ and third‑trimester examinations, transvaginal ultrasounds, doppler studies (umbilical, middle cerebral artery, ductus venosus), antenatal surveillance, 3D and 4D imaging, and ultrasounds for high BMI, multifetal gestations, nuchal translucency, and cervical length assessments.

Assist in diagnostic and fetal intervention surgeries such as CVS, amniocentesis, PUBS, laser surgery for TTTS, fetal MMC repair, LUTO stent placements, thoracentesis, and paracentesis, both in the clinic and operating room. Perform intra‑operative ultrasounds during fetal surgeries; additional OR training and yearly competency sustainment are required.

Support inpatient OB patients, Level 1 OB scans at an adjacent hospital, and provide training to physician learners and ultrasound students.

Qualifications
  • 0–3 years of related experience; 1–3 years of OB/GYN or MFM experience required.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Active status with ARDMS (Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) – Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Obstetrics & Gynecology, RDMS (OB/GYN).
  • Completion of an accredited ultrasound training program.
  • May need to meet registry/certification requirements for another modality, if applicable.
  • Ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when routine positioning is not possible.
