OverviewThis position exists to provide accurate and timely clinical data for billing and optimal reimbursement, quality assessment, comparative databases, physician profiling, and administrative purposes. It is responsible for reviewing and resolving pre-bill coding related edits as well as coding related and non-covered service claim denials. The role utilizes coding guidelines, payer portals and policies for optimal reimbursement, processes charge corrections, write‑offs, and patient balance transfers, and meets established productivity and quality goals.
Contextand Purpose of Role
Position will help address the high volume of denials that are needed to be worked.
Must Haves- AAPC or AHIMA coding certification and membership
- Requires High School Diploma or equivalent. RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS‑P, COC, or CPC credential required. Acceptable credentials or experience may vary depending on type of role (physician coding, facility coding, pre‑bill coding edits). Requires ability to read, understand and interpret medical records and other treatment documentation.
