Radiation Therapist

Overview

This position is PRN, rotating days, at Methodist Hospital.

• Responsible for applying ionizing radiation to patients for therapeutic purposes in accordance with the prescription and instruction of a radiation oncologist.
• Control the exact amount of radiation to be administered locally and reproduce treatment fields, ensuring exposure is made only to prescribed areas.
• Maintain high levels of quality control, safety, treatment planning and administration, patient care, and patient scheduling.
• May be asked to mentor those with less experience and/or students during clinical rotations.

• Registered RT (T) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or Registry eligibility; candidate must pass exam within three months of hire date for Registry eligible candidates.
• RT (T) license as issued and required by the Indiana State Department of Health.
• High School Diploma/GED.
• Current BLS certification.
• Certification and ongoing registration in Radiation Therapy/ARRT; CPR certification;
  Indiana State Department of Health license as a Radiation Therapist.
• Extensive knowledge of technical aspects of radiation oncology, including operation of complex equipment, mathematical computation for treatment planning and design production, and implementation of beam-altering devices.
