About Chain O'Lakes Correctional Facility
As a part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the Chain O’Lakes Community Re-Entry Center promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re‑entry. We strive to model best correctional practices, return productive citizens to our communities, and inspire a culture of accountability, integrity and professionalism. The Chain O’Lakes Community Re‑Entry Center is a minimum security facility for adult males.
The centre is located in Albion, Indiana, in Noble County, within the Chain O’Lakes State Park. The facility offers a wide variety of educational and treatment programs to aid incarcerated individuals with their transition back into the community during the last 36 months of their sentence. The facility also provides work crews throughout northeast Indiana to help maintain Pokagon State Park and Chain O’Lakes State Park.
Crews work closely with the Noble County Surveyor's office, Indiana Department of Transportation, and the local community on special projects that range from helping place sandbags during flooding to planting and maintaining flowers around the community.
As a Correctional Casework Manager at the Chain O'Lakes Correctional Facility, you will supervise, train, and review the performance of Correctional Caseworkers. You will also manage a caseload of incarcerated individuals, assessing their risk and needs to develop, implement, and review their case plan.
Salary StatementThe salary for this position starts at $47,320.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the LifeThe essential functions of this role are as follows:
- Provide immediate supervision to your Correctional Caseworker team for adherence to policy and procedure through the use of routine CQI assessments.
- Supervise, train, coach, and review the performance of correctional caseworkers assigned to the unit team, assess individual strengths and weaknesses, utilize regular evaluations and frequent informal reviews of staff performance in accordance with the standards, guidelines and policies of the Department and State Personnel Department.
- Assess each assigned offender's risks and needs utilizing the Individual Indiana Risk Assessment System (IRAS).
- Coordinate with all appropriate facility staff to address re‑entry and release issues.
- Provide group and individual programming for re‑entry and release as required.
- Coordinate with the classification department staff to make appropriate classification recommendations for offenders.
- Conduct unit orientation for newly received offenders.
- Motivate and guide offenders towards positive, prosocial change by using creative approaches to strengthen relationships and reduce environmental risk factors.
- Maintain high security standards in the unit and facility.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
WhatYou'll Need for Success
Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:
- Within 90 days of hire, obtain the Indiana Risk Assessment System Certification through the Indiana Office of Court Services.
- Must test negative on all drug screenings.
- Upon hire, successfully complete all mandatory training, including all IRIS and Case Management specific training, DOC Supervisory Training Program, First Aid, and CPR courses.
- Ability to write records of offenders.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage the work of the staff.
- Ability to establish a working relationship with staff and offenders.
- Knowledge and ability to utilize conflict resolution techniques.
