About the Family & Social Services Administration (FSSA):
FSSA was established by the Indiana General Assembly in 1991 to consolidate and better integrate the delivery of human services by state government. FSSA is a health care and social services funding agency. Ninety-four percent of the agency’s total budget is paid to thousands of service providers ranging from major medical centers to a physical therapist working with a child or adult with a developmental disability.
The seven care divisions in FSSA administer services to more than 1.5 million Hoosiers. FSSA’s mission is to compassionately serve Hoosiers of all ages and connect them with social services, health care and their communities.
The role of Legislative Coordinator serves in the Office of Legislative Affairs. You will be responsible for the management of day-to-day operations, including assisting the Legislative Director with daily tasks and to manage the agency’s legislative inquiries database. Your role will be responsible for the coordination of a significant program, serving as a program specialist in the area legislative affairs. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of the legislative process and procedures including current and changing federal and state laws as well as a foundational understanding of the Indiana General Assembly.
Salary StatementThe salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:- Research and compile information on specific aspects of the program such as procedures, needs and policies.
- Answer customer questions about program policies and procedures.
- Establish, organize, and maintain current and historical files related to the program.
- Assist in the preparation of program reports, develop applications, prepare budget allocations and/or purchasing of consultative services.
- Maintain, monitor, and order program assets.
- Assist supervisor in the development and planning of overall program and its role in the functioning of the agency.
- Schedule, prepare, and disseminate all program related training materials.

What You'll Need for Success:You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
- Specialized knowledge of program area including pertinent rules and regulations.
- Specialized knowledge of applicable legislation, guidelines, agency policy and professional standards and practices.
- Ability to research, analyze, and compile specific topics related to program area.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to operate effectively in a group decision-making process.
- Tact in dealing with other agency personnel and the public.
- Specialized knowledge of accounting and budgeting.
- Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
