The Controller leads the accounting function while partnering closely with Executive Leadership and the Management Team in a highly engaged, detail-oriented environment. This hands‑on role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely reporting, and delivering clear, well‑supported financial insights while managing multiple priorities.
Operating within a structure with high expectations and active leadership involvement, the Controller is directly involved in day‑to‑day financial operations and evolving information needs. This position is best suited for a seasoned, detail‑driven accounting professional who thrives on precision, follow-through, and serving as a trusted financial partner to executive leadership.
Essential Job Functions- Lead and oversee the accounting team, including general ledger, account reconciliations, and monthly close.
- Day‑to‑day accounting department activities, including the timely and accurate accounting and reporting of all transactions, including cash transactions, AP invoicing, and job costing.
- Maintain strong oversight of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions with attention to detail and follow through.
- Oversee biweekly payroll processing in close collaboration with Human Resources.
- Manage fixed asset listing and related transactions.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and management reports.
- Develops and publishes financial analysis and review of operating results and variance to budget.
- Prepare and distribute other reporting as required.
- Monitor bank balances, overseeing daily cash receipt/disbursement processes and managing daily liquidity.
- Develop short‑ and long‑term cash forecasts to ensure sufficient funds for operational needs.
- Utilize Treasury Management Systems (TMS) and ERP system to automate reporting and improve operational efficiency.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, documentation, and internal controls.
- Monitor internal accounting controls and make recommendations for improvements.
- Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies by interaction with various cross‑functional departments.
- Support internal and external audits, including documentation, schedules, and ad‑hoc requests.
- Partner closely with the CFO and Executive Leadership to address financial questions, variances, and issues as they arise.
- Brings strong technical accounting expertise and takes personal ownership of financial accuracy
- Enjoys operating in a structured, detail‑oriented environment
- Anticipates questions and issues rather than reacting after the fact
- Is confident working closely with the CFO and executive leadership on a regular basis
- Balances analytical thinking with practical execution
- Hands‑on leader who manages and reviews work closely, sets clear expectations, and develops their team
- Highly organized and disciplined, able to manage multiple priorities without sacrificing accuracy
- Clear communicator who can explain financial information to both financial and non‑financial audiences
- Comfortable responding to leadership inquiries on short timelines with well‑supported answers
- Discreet and trustworthy, with strong respect for confidentiality
- Strong experience with monthly close, financial reporting, and variance analysis
- Solid understanding of AP, AR, payroll, job costing, fixed assets, and cash management
- Advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, analysis)
- Experience working in an ERP environment (Epicor experience is a plus)
- CPA is preferred, but not required if experience is strong
- A demonstrated track record of improving processes and internal controls
- Ability to operate effectively as both a leader and individual contributor
- Comfort in environments where details matter and accuracy is non‑negotiable
- Genuine interest in partnering with leadership to support business growth
