The Chief Finanacial Officer (CFO) serves as the senior financial executive and Department Head of Finance for an organization in the manufacture and distribution of specialty alloys. This role is responsible for ensuring the financial integrity, clarity, and usefulness of the company's financial information while supporting operational decision-making, Board oversight, and lender requirements.
The CFO will be a hands‑on leader, particularly in the initial phase, responsible for budgeting, historical cleanup, and strengthening financial reporting related to alloy production, inventory, and distribution activities.
Finance Department LeadershipServe as Department Head of Finance with overall responsibility for financial strategy, accounting, reporting, and controls.
Provide leadership and oversight to the controller, who will supervise the accounting team and report directly to the CFO.
Establish clear expectations, workflows, and accountability within the finance department.
Budgeting & Financial PerformanceLead the annual budgeting process, which initially will be a full-time, hands‑on responsibility.
Develop budgets in collaboration with operations, production, and management teams.
Analyze actual performance versus budget, with a focus on production costs, alloy input costs, margins, and inventory.
Present clear, actionable budget‑to‑actual reporting to management and the Board.
In conjunction with the Board Chair, Controller, and external accounting firm, design and implement the format and structure of the company's financial statements.
Ensure financial statements are clear, decision‑focused, and answer Board and.
Board, Management & Bank CoordinationWork closely with management, the board of directors, and banking partners to ensure financial records meet all reporting and compliance requirements.
Serve as the primary financial liaison with lenders.
Accounting Cleanup & Balance Sheet IntegrityLead the cleanup and final reconciliation of prior‑year financial records, including general ledger, inventory, and balance sheet accounts.
Ensure prior year books are accurate and defensible.
Ongoing Oversight & External ReviewOversee the monthly close and financial reporting process.
Coordinate with the external accounting firm for monthly financial statement reviews.
Controls, Compliance & Best PracticesEstablish and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable standards.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field
- CPA, CMA, and/or MBA strongly preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience
- Manufacturing or metals/alloys industry experience strongly preferred
- Proven experience working with boards, lenders, and accounting firms
- Clean, accurate, fully reconciled financial statements
- Clear financial reporting supporting alloy manufacturing and distribution decisions
- Strong budgeting discipline and variance analysis
