SJCA, Inc., a leading civil engineering firm with offices across Indiana, is seeking an accomplished Controller to drive and elevate our financial strategy. Position OverviewThe Controller serves as the organization’s senior financial leader, responsible for guiding financial strategy, strengthening operational performance, and ensuring fiscal integrity across the company.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and develop teams responsible for financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, payroll, and budgeting.
- Establish and enforce robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Direct financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and investment activities.
- Deliver strategic financial insights to support capital investments, pricing, and contract negotiations.
- Oversee preparation of financial statements, activity reports, forecasts, and annual budgets.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP or IFRS.
- Analyze financial performance across past, current, and projected operations to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Advise executive leadership on financial policies, long-term objectives, and organizational strategy.
- Manage regulatory reporting, including SEC filings, and coordinate annual audits.
- Maintain expertise in accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Perform other related duties as needed.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership presence with proven ability to guide and mentor teams.
- Advanced accounting and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and accounting software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required;
Master’s preferred. - 10+ years of relevant experience.
- CPA preferred.
- Experience in the A/E/C industries preferred.
- Ability to sit for extended periods, lift up to 15 lbs, and travel as needed.
