Payroll Tax Analyst

Role Summary

The Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for efficient and compliant execution of US payroll tax activities, including federal, state and local taxation and employee withholding, as well as W-2 reporting and remittance to taxing authorities. This role ensures tax compliance, supports audits, and collaborates with external tax vendors and internal teams; may coach others on complex tax issues and assist with downstream payroll activities as needed.

• Tax Compliance Execution:
  Maintain full compliance with all applicable tax laws and proactively stay informed of regulatory changes impacting the company.
• Tax Process Ownership:
  Identify opportunities for process improvement and ensure all related documentation is updated accordingly.
• Business Partner Relationships:
  Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal Centers of Excellence, external tax vendors, and government agencies.

  Bachelor’s Degree
• Required:
  
  Two years minimum in payroll tax experience, including, but not limited to, filing 941s
• Required:
  
  Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization or visas for this role, including but not limited to F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, F-1 STEM OPT, J-1, H-1B, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, or L-1

• Preferred:
  Strong technical payroll tax, equity and accounting skills
• Preferred:
  Solid system aptitude, preferably with Workday Payroll
• Preferred:
  Strong, proven attention to detail with a customer service emphasis
• Preferred:
  Financial or payroll certification (CPA, CPP, etc.)
