Director of Financial Planning and Analysis Managing Partner and President at Resource Management Group

Our client, a dynamic high growth aviation company is looking for a Director of Financial Planning and Analysis to lead the FPA and data analytic functions. The role reports directly to CFO with a significant interaction with the CEO and Board of Directors. The Director will lead a small staff and needs to be a player‑coach with exceptional analytical skills.

Responsibilities
  • Build and manage the financial planning and reporting processes, and aid in the interpretation/analysis of business results – and help provide financial direction to all business areas. Ensures the integrity of the business financial reporting.
  • Establish an ongoing relationship with key leaders of the businesses to understand and analyze financial performance versus prior‑year.
  • Responsible for leading the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Strategic Plan process as well as assisting with mergers and acquisitions.
  • Develop creative and informative ways to analyze and communicate business performance, risks and opportunities.
  • Develop an in‑depth understanding of the segment businesses, related industries and major competitors including performing analysis of industry trends and competitor data.
  • Lead preparation for earnings release announcements; conduct financial analysis for industry segments with the primary focus on understanding, anticipating, and quantifying industry trends.
  • Provide information and prepare senior management presentations for the company CEO and CFO.
  • Manage ad‑hoc reporting and analysis requests from executive leadership.
  • Functions as a key business and financial advisor to management, providing leadership in prioritizing both short‑term business management requirements and the long‑term strategic direction of the business.
  • Recruit, retain and develop talent in the FP&A finance organization. Monitor, assess and evaluate performance of staff. Identify development needs and identify opportunities to improve performance and readiness for new positions.
  • Coordinate and drive global process improvement teams by facilitating discussions, driving decisions, and executing/monitoring action registers in order to deliver on segment contemporary finance initiatives and cost targets while ensuring high quality service delivery.
Qualifications, Skills and Behavioral Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting. Preferred.
  • Masters of Business Administration, desired but not required.
  • 7‑10 years FPA or Corporate Finance experience, accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated business acumen skills, demonstrates a high‑level of interest and understanding of business operations and financial performance, ability to interpret financial reports & data and identify trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Strong financial analysis capabilities and possesses the skills to create and utilize complex financial models.
  • Well‑developed program management skills and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional work ethic and multi‑tasking capabilities, professionally handles the pressure of meeting multiple and high‑priority deadlines.
  • Experience building and managing high performing teams.
  • Experience with SAP, Hyperion, and BI.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with the complexities involved with foreign operations including: business risk, foreign exchange, accounting/reporting, tax issues, legal issues.
  • Leadership – ability to influence and lead diverse, cross‑geographic teams.
  • Strong business acumen / partnering approach, problem solving, analytical ability and decision making.
  • Motivated self‑starter with initiative; proactive in identifying issues along with areas for improvement.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and ability to communicate virtually, to multiple functions, cultures and to different levels of management.
