ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Senior Director of Planning, Analytics, and Risk, the Assistant Director of Financial Planning and Analytics will lead the University’s financial planning processes, including short‑term and long‑term forecasting, and ensure alignment with the institution’s strategic goals. This role is central to supporting decision‑making by providing actionable financial insights through scenario modeling, financial analysis, and reporting. The Assistant Director will work closely with senior leadership, academic units, and operational departments to ensure resource allocation supports the university’s mission, growth, and long‑term financial sustainability.
EssentialFunctions
- Oversees development of routine financial reports, such as monthly forecasts.
- Leads the development of multi‑year financial plans that project revenue, expenses, and capital needs aligned with the university’s strategic vision.
- Oversees short‑term and long‑term financial forecasting, ensuring alignment with the university’s operational and academic priorities.
- Conducts scenario modeling to analyze potential impacts of changes in enrollment, funding, costs, and other external factors.
- Develops and maintains financial models to inform key decisions regarding resource allocation, capital investments, and new initiatives.
- Provides senior leadership with data‑driven insights to guide strategic decisions, ensuring financial resources are used effectively to support the university’s mission.
- Assists in evaluating the financial viability of new academic programs, projects, and partnerships.
- Designs, develops, and maintains reports and dashboards that track key financial performance metrics, leveraging systems such as Banner, Power BI, and IBM Planning and Analytics (TM1).
- Utilizes SQL and related tools to extract, clean, and structure data for analysis and reporting.
- Oversees the accuracy, reliability, and interpretation of key financial dashboards, with consistent insights and standardized talking points on financial performance.
- Partners with stakeholders across the university to evolve financial analytics into a broader, centralized performance measurement framework that tracks progress against institutional goals.
- Provides actionable recommendations based on financial data, supporting transparency and data‑driven decision‑making across the university.

Required QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in financial planning, strategic analysis, and financial modeling.
Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrated strong experience in long‑term financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting in a university or similar nonprofit setting.
