Summary

The main responsibilities of this position include maintaining a fan-friendly environment and ensuring the safety of guests at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. A Pacers Sports & Entertainment (PS&E) Usher sets the tone for the quality of service expected from PS&E employees. Staff will be assigned to various positions, such as greeting guests, scanning tickets, operating elevators, providing directions, and reporting issues. This role requires upholding company policies and the NBA/WNBA code of conduct in a helpful and professional manner.

Pay Rate: $15.91 per hour

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow PS&E standards and guest experience "ASSIST" principles, proactively engaging guests arriving and leaving the event in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Create a welcoming environment for guests while maintaining a general knowledge of the venue to better serve and answer guests' questions.
  • While assigned as a ticket scanner, scan and verify appropriate tickets for each event and assist with troubleshooting ticketing issues.
  • Assist in way finding, directing guests to their seats and other desired locations throughout the venue, and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the building layout, including all entrances, exits, and amenities.
  • Ensure guests are granted access and seated in the appropriate areas of the venue by checking tickets and credentials throughout the duration of the event.
  • Follow the event safety checklist to ensure cleanliness and security of the assigned area, monitoring for any issues, spills, unattended items, and clearing aisleways.
  • Monitor crowd for behavior inconsistent with the WNBA/NBA Fan Code of Conduct and building policy; report and intervene when appropriate (e.g., rude/inappropriate or belligerent behavior, excessive alcohol consumption).
  • Process any event and incident reports as needed, reporting major incidents to the Area Supervisor.
  • While assigned as an elevator operator, warmly greet guests, manage crowd size, and provide directions to the correct floor.
  • Act as primary assistance in emergency response and evacuations as needed; remain aware of PS&E emergency procedures.
  • Understand the function of ADA in a public facility and the various ADA escort and seating options in Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
  • Participate in training and continuing education as provided by PS&E to stay current with the needs of the position and industry standards.
  • Assist with distribution of promotional materials as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Schedule Requirements
  • Availability for at least 50% of venue events per month.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and select holidays throughout the calendar year.
Qualification Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Stadium/event crowd management or customer service experience preferred.
Problem Solving and Interpersonal Requirements
  • High interpersonal abilities – frequent contact with guests and all levels of PS&E staff.
  • Collaboration with various internal and external constituents to solve problems with accuracy, integrity, and outstanding customer service.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and resolutions.

Duties may also require regularly sitting, walking, navigating stairs, moving heavy objects, using a computer, using a telephone, and writing.

The position also requires hearing and visual acuity to converse with internal and external constituents in person or via radio in an environment with heavy noise levels. There may be times of high volume and high stress.
