Description

SAIC is seeking a highly skilled Electronics Technician Maintenance III to join our team supporting missions critical to the U.S. Navy. This position involves advanced-level troubleshooting, testing, and repairing of complex circuit boards, power supplies, and complete asset overhauls. The ideal candidate will have expertise in interpreting technical schematics, deep understanding of electronic theory, and experience working with components such as resistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, and transistors.

This position demands a high degree of technical proficiency, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality to ensure mission‑critical systems are returned to operational condition. As a key part of our maintenance team, you'll directly contribute to supporting fleet readiness, both by performing hands‑on work and by aiding Sailors remotely when needed.

• Radar System Maintenance and Repair:
  Support NSWC Crane Radar Division in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of radar systems components including circuit boards, power supplies and other essential electronic components.
• Inducting assets for maintenance.
• Performing disassembly, overhaul, and rebuild of radar systems, including testing and final acceptance.
• Fabricating cables as required for system repairs.
• Detailed troubleshooting and diagnosis of system‑level and component‑level issues.
• Screen test and repair complex circuit boards and power supplies.
• Troubleshoot and isolate problems down to the component level using detailed schematic diagrams, industry knowledge of electronics, and test equipment.
• Overhaul whole assets to fully operational condition in compliance with U.S. Navy requirements.
• Maintain parts inventory in accordance with Operating Materials and Supplies (OM&S) regulations.
• Ensure accurate documentation of all parts used for repairs and maintenance.
• Provide status updates, condition assessments, and scheduled progress reports to higher‑level managers and team members.
• Effectively report progress to support coordinated efforts across the project team.
  
  Utilize Naval technical documentation, technical manuals, and other references to ensure proper maintenance and testing.
• Follow approved testing and repair procedures while providing accurate and comprehensive documentation of all work performed.
• Write new testing or repair procedures as needed or update existing procedures to reflect current best practices.
• Provide troubleshooting assistance to the In‑Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) and U.S. Navy personnel aboard naval platforms.
• Break down troubleshooting procedures into clear, manageable steps via email or other remote means to guide Sailors effectively during repairs.
• Operate test equipment regularly, including multimeters, power meters, pulse generators, signal generators, oscilloscopes, AC/DC power supplies, and function generators.
• Apply expert knowledge of electronic components—resistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, transistors, etc.—to improve repair effectiveness and reduce turnaround times.
• Suggest improvements to processes, tools, and procedures for better efficiency and quality assurance.

HS diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of 5 years of experience in radar system maintenance and repair, with preferred experience on Naval radar systems (similar Naval systems will be considered). Proficiency in troubleshooting electronic systems, reading schematics, and understanding electronic theory. Strong hands‑on experience with repair of components and soldering techniques.

• Solder certified or experience with soldering to certification standards.
• Must be able to obtain the following certifications:
• J‑STD 001 Solder Certification
• IPC‑7711 Solder Certification
• IPC‑7721 Solder Certification
• Fall Protection End User Certification
• Forklift Operator Qualification
• Proficient in using electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, and signal generators.
• Familiarity with Naval technical documentation and testing procedures preferred.
• U.S. citizenship required (for working with Naval projects).
• Security clearance eligibility may be required depending on project needs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to support remote troubleshooting efforts with fleet customers.
