Location: Indianapolis

We are seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to join a growing automation team. In this role, you will design, program, and implement custom automation systems that support advanced manufacturing environments.

You will take projects from concept through installation, provide hands‑on technical support, and ensure systems operate at peak performance. This is an excellent opportunity to lead initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and work in a fast‑paced, innovative setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and program PLCs, HMIs, and robotic systems for custom automation solutions
  • Integrate robotics, vision systems, and motion control technologies
  • Lead system testing, debugging, and validation efforts
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional project teams to meet project goals and timelines
  • Support system design and hardware development from concept through completion
  • Travel to customer sites (approximately 50%) for installation, startup, and support
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Promote and maintain safety standards in all phases of work
  • Perform additional duties as reasonably related to the role
Qualifications
  • Ability to commute at least 3 days per week (hybrid schedule)
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% for installation and debugging support
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent hands‑on automation experience (5+ years preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with Allen‑Bradley PLCs, HMIs, motion control, and robotic systems
  • Experience programming and integrating FANUC or KUKA robots
  • Strong troubleshooting and on‑site commissioning experience

    Working knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and fabrication drawings
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and industrial safety standards
