About Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P):
Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) is an internationally oriented institution of higher learning, that is committed to an educational system based on the highest standards of teaching and research in fields related to the sustainable economic development of Morocco and Africa. UM6P is an institution oriented towards applied research and innovation. On a specific focus on Africa, UM6P aims to position these fields as the forefront and become a university of international standing.
More than just a traditional academic institution, UM6P is a platform for experimentation and a pool of opportunities, for students, professors and staff. It offers a high-quality living and study environment thanks to its state-of-the-art infrastructure. With an innovative approach, UM6P places research and innovation at the heart of its educational project as a driving force of a business model.
In its research approach, the UM6P promotes transdisciplinary, entrepreneurship spirit and collaboration with external institutions for developing up to date science and at continent level in order to address real challenges.
All our programs run as start-ups and can be self-organized when they reach a critical mass. Thus, academic liberty is promoted as far as funding is developed by research teams.
The research programs are integrated from long-term research to short-term applications in linkage with incubation and start-up ecosystems.
About Energy 4 Water (E4W):
Energy4
Water (E4W) is dedicated to advancing energy-driven atmospheric water harvesting and optimizing condensation- and sorption-based technologies. The initiative focuses on integrating solar thermal and alternative energy systems with advanced materials and system optimization strategies to address water scarcity challenges.
E4W operates at the interface of renewable energy systems, water harvesting technologies, condensation processes, sorption technologies, and material system interactions. Its mission is to translate scientific research into practical, scalable solutions that enhance water access, environmental resilience, and green innovation.

Job Description
Energy4
Water (E4W) at UM6P invites applications for a full-time permanent faculty position (Assistant/Associate Professor) in Renewable Energy Systems, Water Harvesting Technologies, and Condensation and Sorption Processes.
The successful candidate is expected to develop and lead a high-impact research program integrating renewable energy systems, advanced water technologies, functional materials, and intelligent sensing and control systems. The faculty member will contribute to experimental and modeling activities involving sorption and condensation technologies, solar thermal integration, advanced adsorbent materials (including Metal Organic Frameworks (MoFs)), and performance optimization of water harvesting technologies across different climatic contexts.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Undertake original research of international excellence in renewable energy-powered water harvesting systems.
- Design and model advanced systems based on condensation, sorption, or hybrid thermal processes using solar and alternative energy sources.
- Conduct laboratory investigations and field trials to assess the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of water harvesting technologies across various environmental conditions.
- Analyze material system interactions, particularly the performance of advanced adsorbents (including Metal Organic Frameworks (MoFs)), thermal interfaces, and engineered condensation surfaces under varied operating scenarios.
- Develop and refine performance simulation models and predictive tools to support system optimization and deployment strategies.
- Prepare high-quality scientific publications and disseminate research outcomes through leading journals and international conferences.
- Develop research objectives and technical proposals aligned with the priorities of the E4W initiative.
- Engage actively with academic, industrial, and institutional partners to translate research into real-world applications.
- Mentor and supervise MSc, PhD students and postdocs and contribute to the teaching activities related to renewable energy systems and water technologies.
- Contribute to the academic and scientific life of UM6P.
Candidate Criteria
- PhD in chemical engineering, materials science, physics, electrical engineering, or a closely related field.
- Significant publication record in peer-reviewed international journals.
- Demonstrated expertise in sorption processes, condensation systems, renewable energy integration, and/or advanced adsorbent materials such as MoFs.
- Proven ability to conduct independent research and contribute to…
