General

Purpose:

We are seeking an Automotive Plastics Engineer with strong vehicle engineering experience to design and develop Class A and B plastic components for automotive applications. The ideal candidate understands vehicle integration, manufacturing constraints (injection molding, vacuum forming), and delivers reliable, production-ready designs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop vehicle components and conversions in CAD, specializing in Class A surfaces and B-side structural features.
  • Ensure designs meet vehicle integration, durability, cost, and quality targets.
  • Apply knowledge of injection molding, vacuum forming, and related tooling.
  • Support projects through concept, design, validation, and production launch (APQP/Stage Gate).
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and other teams to ensure design feasibility and assembly readiness.
  • Develop detailed drawings, GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and perform FEA/DFA as needed.
  • Support prototype builds and vehicle validation activities.
  • Recommend cost-effective design improvements and standardization opportunities.
Required Skills &

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
  • 5+ years of automotive vehicle engineering experience, including Class A surface design.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle systems integration and reliable design practices.
  • Experience with injection molding, vacuum forming, tooling, and multi-piece assemblies.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, D/PFMEA, DVP&R, DOE, 8D, tolerance stack-up, and dimensional management.
  • Experience with steel, aluminum, and plastic material selection.
  • Proficient in CAD (Inventor/AutoCAD preferred) and standard engineering tools.
  • Assembly plant launch experience preferred.
