SAIC is seeking an experienced Sr. Systems Engineer - Vendor Integration & Oversight to coordinate and oversee vendor integration activities for the Submarine-Launched Cruise Missile-Nuclear (SLCM-N) weapon system. This position is critical to ensuring that vendor-provided subsystems align with system-level functional, allocated, and interface requirements while meeting Verification and Validation (V&V) objectives prior to system integration and test activities.

The selected candidate will work closely with stakeholders across the program to provide guidance, coordination, and oversight of vendor integration efforts and ensure alignment between vendor-delivered subsystems and the overall weapon system architecture. Additionally, this position involves advising vendors on integration challenges, evaluating their V&V efforts, and facilitating seamless coordination of system-level integration activities.

This position requires onsite support at the NSWC Crane Division, Crane, Indiana.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Vendor Integration and Subsystem Alignment
  • Ensure vendor-developed subsystems align with overall system functional and allocated requirements, as well as interface requirements defined for the SLCM-N weapon system.
  • Support and evaluate vendor subsystem designs to verify compliance with system requirements, providing feedback and guidance to ensure alignment with the program's technical and operational objectives.
  • Coordinate with vendors to refine and clarify interface requirements, ensuring proper integration of hardware, software, and system elements.
  • Review and assess vendor subsystem documentation, including Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and test plans, to confirm adequacy for system integration.
Verification and Validation (V&V) Oversight
  • Evaluate and ensure that vendor V&V plans, methods, and results meet program-level requirements before integration activities begin.
  • Provide guidance to vendors on how to effectively execute their V&V efforts and document results to meet program compliance standards.
  • Confirm vendor subsystems meet readiness criteria for integration through reviews of their V&V artifacts, including test results, analyses, and compliance traces.
  • Coordinate with program stakeholders to track and verify V&V activities for all vendor subsystems, ensuring seamless subsystem transition into higher-level integration.
System Integration and Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Act as the integration liaison between vendors and program stakeholders, ensuring all vendor subsystems integrate properly within the overall system.
  • Oversee vendor-led integration efforts, ensuring proper coordination across internal systems engineering teams and external vendors.
  • Provide guidance and oversight on system-level integration activities, ensuring compliance with allocated requirements, functional requirements, and system performance goals.
  • Support resolution of technical discrepancies or issues during integration activities, offering systems engineering expertise to inform program decisions.
Stakeholder Oversight and Documentation
  • Facilitate collaboration among program stakeholders, including government teams, vendors, and other contractors, to support integration timelines and milestones.
  • Prepare and deliver technical briefings, assessments, and reports documenting the status and adequacy of vendor integration activities.
  • Lead and support integration-related technical reviews, including integration readiness reviews and system verification reviews, to ensure technical challenges are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior systems engineers on integration and V&V best practices.
