Job Summary

DeBra-Kuempel Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc., providing mechanical and electrical services throughout the tri-state area. We are seeking an HVAC Controls (BAS) Engineer for our Indianapolis, IN location to join our growing automation design team and support commercial and industrial projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Attend project turnover meetings with the sales and project team.
  • Design building automation systems and create project submittals/shop drawings using construction plans and specifications.
  • Identify any gaps or ambiguity in the project and submit RFIs as required.
  • Establish & maintain unique customer standards in design/build and plan/spec markets.
  • With experience, mentor new employees and assist in their growth.
  • Write control sequences and coordinate design intent with programmer.
  • Provide operational and technical support/direction to field operations and subcontractors.
  • Obtain field markups and revise the shop drawings with any changes for owner records.
  • Maintain backups of all project documentation including record drawings on construction management software program.
  • Develop strong relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Engineering Manager / Project Manager with recommendation for resolution.
  • Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.
  • Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed.
Qualifications Preferred

Education and Experience
  • Associate’s degree in a related engineering/technology field required; bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred.
  • Combination of verifiable DDC specific training and two or more years of experience will be considered in lieu of an engineering/technical degree.
  • DDC or PLC design experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of low voltage electrical wiring.
  • Experience in engineering, design, or installation/service of HVAC systems.
  • Strong understanding of the fundamentals of commercial electrical, HVAC, and control theory.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and contract documentation.
Computer Skills
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel). Advanced experience with spreadsheets a plus.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Visio and other electrical, technical, or construction programs.
  • Familiarity with building architecture and computer networks.
  • Familiarity with third party equipment integration over protocols such as BACnet/Modbus.
  • Programming experience is a plus.
