Join Our Team as an Automation Electrical Designer:
ResponsibilitiesThe Automation Electrical Designer is responsible for the design, documentation, and development of electrical systems for automated machinery, industrial equipment, and control systems. This role involves creating detailed electrical schematics, selecting components, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, and collaborating with mechanical, controls, and software engineers to deliver fully integrated automation solutions.
What You Get to Do- Design and develop electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical
- Specify and select appropriate electrical components (e.g., PLCs, VFDs, relays, sensors, circuit breakers, and power supplies).
- Create Bills of Materials (BOM) and ensure accuracy of all electrical documentation.
- Collaborate with automation engineers to integrate control systems into machines and production lines.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable standards (e.g., IEC, NEC, UL, CSA).
- Support the assembly, installation, and commissioning of electrical control panels and field wiring.
- Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues during build and testing phases.
- Participate in continuous improvement and standardization initiatives for electrical design processes.
- Provide technical support for maintenance and modification of existing systems.
- Ability to commute to Tipton, IN up to 5 days per week
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field.
- 2–5+ years of experience in electrical design for automation, machinery, or industrial equipment.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical utilizing automated features and smart blocks
- Knowledge of PLC and HMI hardware (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, etc.).
- Understanding of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, etc.).
- Familiarity with safety systems and circuit design (SIL, Category 3/4, ISO 13849).
- Ability to interpret and create electrical schematics and panel layouts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple projects under deadlines.
- Experience with motion control systems (servo drives, stepper motors), preferred.
- Knowledge of industrial networking and IoT integration, preferred.
- Familiarity with CE marking and machine safety standards, preferred.
- Experience using ERP or PLM systems for BOM management, preferred
