SAIC is seeking an entry‑level embedded software engineer as part of the Launcher Electronics Assembly (LEA) program at the Indianapolis, IN facility.
The candidate will directly support Government program(s) as an embedded software engineer throughout the entire program lifecycle. Candidate will be expected to design, develop, document, test, and debug software applications for use in embedded military applications that require low‑level control processing (Interrupts, Timers, Digital I/O, and serial communication protocols). Candidate will also be expected to develop embedded software for use on real‑time and near real‑time operating systems and processors.
Candidate will also create supporting documentation; conduct peer reviews; and ensure software standards are met. Candidate may be expected to possess a basic knowledge of reading schematics of complex electronic assemblies. Candidate may be required to develop supporting test software applications. Candidate may conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in planning, requirements analysis, definition, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product.
Candidate is expected to possess excellent communication skills to interface with a multidisciplinary design team.
- Limited use and/or application of technical principles, theories, and concepts. Receives assignments in the form of specific tasks for the work to be completed. Work is reviewed by management to measure meeting objectives and schedules.
- Develops solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.

- Contributes to completion of routine technical tasks. Failure to achieve results can normally be overcome without serious effect on schedules and programs.
- Contacts are primarily with immediate supervisor, project leaders, and other professionals in the group.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering related discipline or two (2) years or more related work experience.
- Extensive knowledge of C/C++ programming language for embedded applications.
- Must be able to obtain security clearance up to Secret level.
- Must be U.S. citizen.
- Must be able to work well with team members and possess excellent communication skills.
- Experience with developing embedded applications using ARM® Cortex-M family of Microcontrollers.
- Experience with IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM Integrated Development Environment (IDE), or equivalent.
- Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) architectures.
- Experience with utilizing lab equipment, including but not limited to digital multimeters and oscilloscopes.
- Experience with Agile development process and Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) concepts.
- Working knowledge or ability to read electrical schematics and datasheets.
- Knowledge of MIL-STD-1553 or similar military serial communication protocols.
- Basic knowledge of VHDL and FPGA design.
- Active security clearance at Secret level or above.
