Traffic Engineer – Indianapolis
Fishbeck is currently initiating a search for a talented, growth-oriented Traffic Engineer in our Indiana offices. This role requires self‑motivation, commitment to high‑quality work performance, self‑sufficiency, excellent planning and communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a project team. The position offers the opportunity to lead and mentor staff, work on exciting projects, and grow with Fishbeck.
Primary Functions- Traffic impact studies, safety studies, signal optimization, and traffic forecasting.
- Intersection and roadway traffic modeling.
- Roundabout analysis and geometric evaluation.
- Develop INDOT plans utilizing traffic data.
- Report writing.
- Assist with traffic signal design and operations.
- Interact with clients including INDOT, local agencies, other consulting companies, and contractors.
- Assist in developing project budgets/schedules.
- Assist in developing technical proposals.
- Manage tasks and mentor staff.
- Assist with traffic engineering tasks with transportation staff in other Fishbeck offices and peers in the industry.
Physical Requirements
Occasionally exposed to light lifting, sitting, and walking. Duties performed in the field and at project sites, requiring use of a computer. Capable of traveling to and from projects. Ability to use equipment for communication and documentation. Visual acuity required.
Desired EducationBachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
Desired Skills & Experience- Minimum Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer license.
- Experience with ITE Trip Generation Manual and traffic studies.
- Preferred knowledge of INDOT traffic standards and guidelines.
- Experience with Highway Capacity Software, Synchro, Vissim, Rodel, and Micro Station.
- Excellent computer and verbal communication skills.
