Takes part in providing local technical assistance for the analysis, development, and design of processes and infrastructure related to water supply, stormwater facilities, irrigation, culverts, hydrology, open channel hydraulics, bridge hydraulics, floodplain modeling/mapping, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, river/stream/habitat restoration, fish passage, pollution control and treatment, and preserving water quality by averting contamination and degradation. Generates accurate and concise documentation, ensuring responsibilities meet or exceed industry standards.

- Under general supervision, collect and compile environmental data from water, sludge, and other matrices for analysis.
- Study water cycles and flow directions to determine the influence of weather and other environmental forces.
- Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements.
- Assist with basic professional water resources engineering work relating to water supply/quality/management, stormwater facilities, irrigation, culverts, hydrology, open channel hydraulics, bridge hydraulics, floodplain modeling, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, canal development, river/stream/habitat restoration and fish passage, waste disposal, pollution control and treatment, and preserving the environment by averting contamination and degradation.
- Assist with verifying site characteristics, providing entry‑level technical assistance on various environmental issues.
- Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebooks.
- Comply with safety guidelines and site‑specific procedures, including sample collection, location data, statistical documentation, and logbooks.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Water Resources or closely related discipline.
- Excellent research skills with an analytical mindset.
- Familiarity with professional water resources engineering concepts relating to water supply, quality, management, and treatment for various end uses.
- Familiarity with relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record‑keeping requirements.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to engineering and non‑engineering audiences.
- Proficient self‑leadership with attention to detail, multitasking, and prioritization in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision, and as part of a team to meet business objectives.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project‑specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project‑specific requirements.
- Engineer in Training Certification.
- Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.
- A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
