Role OverviewRecent or upcoming college graduates are strongly encouraged to apply. Four (4) years' experience is preferred but not required. No engineering license is required for this position; we provide an education reimbursement plan to help obtain licensure. This full‑time role involves reviewing permit applications, plans, and specifications, with some on‑site evaluations and site visits. A valid Indiana Driver’s License is required.
Hours:
7.5 hours per day, with flexible scheduling options.
The starting salary for this position is $67,314.00, potentially adjusted for education or work experience.
A Day In The Life- Perform detailed technical engineering reviews and site inspections to ensure facilities meet State standards.
- Conduct permit reviews, evaluate compliance history, and review application documents, plans, and specifications.
- Carry out surveys, special problem investigations, inspections, collect samples for lab analysis, prepare reports, and may testify at hearings or in court.
- Provide technical review of plans, identify deficiencies, recommend alternatives, and assist with enforcement documentation.
- Advise enforcement staff, prepare or review enforcement documents, and testify as an expert witness.
- Deliver prompt customer service to the public, consultants, contractors, government officials, and permit applicants.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited four‑year college.
- License to practice engineering in the State of Indiana.
- At least four (4) years’ experience in Engineering and related fields.
- Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations.
- Advanced knowledge of environmental sciences, including chemistry, sanitation, structural design, mathematics, safety engineering, and physics.
- Ability to conduct surveys, inspections, investigations, and prepare evidence reports.
- Skill in reviewing treatment and control systems plans, identifying adverse impacts, and recommending alternatives.
- Effective planning, time‑management, problem‑solving, judgment, and communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge of air, land, water pollution, solid and hazardous waste disposal, occupational health and safety, and water supply practices.
- Proficiency with Computer‑Assisted Design (CAD) programs, electronic documentation, and database entry/maintenance.
- Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
