About the RoleA leading design and engineering firm is seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Structural Engineer to join their growing team in Indianapolis, IN. This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex commercial building projects, delivering innovative structural solutions that support architectural vision and construction excellence. This role offers the chance to lead projects from concept through construction, while mentoring team members and ensuring structural integrity throughout the process.
- Design and oversee structural systems that meet code requirements and client expectations.
- Manage multiple projects, coordinate with architects and contractors, and ensure quality and accuracy throughout the design and construction process.
- Communicate with drafting staff, clients, and external stakeholders.
- Prepare preliminary designs and review building codes for compliance.
- Produce structural calculations and construction-ready drawings.
- Coordinate with architects, civil, and mechanical engineers.
- Manage construction administration tasks including shop drawing reviews and RFIs.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of design documents across disciplines.
- BS or MS in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- 5+ years of structural engineering experience in building design.
- Ability to design with steel, concrete, masonry, and light gauge steel.
- Proficiency in Revit for structural drawings preferred.
- Familiarity with analysis/design software such as RAM, SAP
2000, or RISA. - Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 12 months highly preferred.
