Job Description

The Undergraduate Academic Advisor provides comprehensive academic advising and student support services to prospective, admitted, and enrolled undergraduate students. The Advisor guides students through academic planning, degree requirements, institutional policies, and personal challenges that impact academic success. The Academic Advisor is committed to being accessible to students, especially during peak advising cycles. This position plays a critical role in student retention, progression, and graduation by fostering informed decision‑making and maintaining a student‑centered approach aligned with University goals and values.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success and inclusive excellence.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, administrators, and external partners.
  • Strong organizational and project‑management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Commitment to supporting the success of students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated success in project and time management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or a related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in academic advising, student services, higher education, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of undergraduate student recruitment, matriculation, and retention processes, especially within business programs.
  • Evidence of successful student engagement programming, such as coordinating co‑curricular activities, applied learning initiatives, student organizations, or similar efforts.
  • Experience in a business school or college of business, specifically in academic advising.
  • Demonstrated success in new‑student initiatives, such as yield strategies, orientation programming, or first‑year experience design.
  • Experience developing and executing student engagement initiatives, including applied business learning, case competitions, student events, and co‑curricular programming.
  • Knowledge of enrollment management strategies, student data analytics, or CRM systems supporting recruitment and retention.
  • Experience collaborating with campus units, such as admissions, academic advising, career services, and student affairs.
  • Ability to build community and industry partnerships that support experiential learning, networking, and student success.
  • Record of professional engagement or leadership within business education or higher‑education organizations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Will manage projects and supervise the work of student employees and graduate assistant(s).
Essential Functions Academic Advising & Student Support
  • Meet daily with prospective students, accepted students, and currently enrolled students to provide academic guidance and support.
  • Advise students on a wide range of academic, personal, and institutional issues, working one‑on‑one to resolve situations in a manner that supports student success while balancing University policies and stakeholder needs.
  • Ensure students are progressing toward degree completion and maintaining minimum academic standards, including required grades and GPA.
  • Track, monitor, and support students on academic probation, including documentation, intervention planning, and follow‑up.
  • Perform degree audits for all assigned cohort students to ensure eligibility for graduation and release of diplomas.
  • Assist in coordination of applied projects and experiential learning opportunities for students.
Orientation, Admissions & Recruitment Support
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute all aspects of new student orientation, including scheduling, content development, and collaboration with campus partners.
  • Meet with prospective and admitted students to explain academic programs, degree pathways, and institutional expectations.
  • Work collaboratively with the Admissions Office, as needed, to coordinate campus tours, meetings with Admissions Counselors, and recruitment‑related activities.
