Director of Undergraduate Studies

The University of Notre Dame’s Program of Liberal Studies (PLS) invites applications for a Director of Undergraduate Studies. This is a non‑tenure track teaching position with administrative and advising responsibilities. The successful candidate will serve as the public face of the department’s undergraduate experience, providing academic guidance to approximately 115 majors, overseeing undergraduate programming, and teaching courses within our unique integrated curriculum.

We have a strong preference for candidates with teaching experience in Great Books programs or core‑text curricula, and the ability to contribute to one or more of our disciplinary tutorials. Please see the website for more information about our curriculum, which encompasses both Great Books seminars and subject‑specific courses in literature, philosophy, theology, music, history, political theory, and the natural and social sciences.

Qualifications

A candidate must hold a PhD. The appointment can be at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor, or Associate Teaching Professor for candidates with appropriate administrative and teaching experience, with opportunities for reappointment and promotion to Associate Teaching Professor and Full Teaching Professor.
