JOB SUMMARY:

Assists in conducting intensified learning experiences in the classroom. Performs clerical and supportive tasks for instructional personnel. Aids in related work as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES . Other duties may be assigned.

* Tutors students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning activity.

* Helps develop a variety of instructional materials.

* Maintains student records as needed.

* Files student information and materials as needed.

* Operates instructional media, machines and equipment.

* Maintains discipline in the absence of the teacher.

* Aids homeroom teacher during student arrivals and departures.

* Supervises students during lunch and recess periods.

* Attends seminars, workshops and meetings in the area of instructional services.

* Demonstrates positive attitude toward children.

* Maintains cooperative working relationships with students, staff, parents and the general public.

* May escort children to and from various rooms.

* Effectively and efficiently performs all assigned areas of responsibility.

* Maintains appropriate appearance.

* Ensures own regular and prompt attendance.

* Effectively completes regular and other job performance criteria as assigned.

* Promotes good public relations for the school district and community

* Remains free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.

EDUCATION and/or

EXPERIENCE:

* High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

LANGUAGE

SKILLS:

* Ability to effectively present information in oneonone and small group situations to students.

PREFERRED

SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Some experience working with children in an educational or child care setting. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

EDUCATION and/or

EXPERIENCE:

* High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES REGISTRATIONS:

* Substitute teacher's license as issued by the State Department of Education.
