Pay Rate:$18.50/hr on W2 without benefits
Shift Hours/ Week:37.5 hrs, 7:30 am-3:30 pm Monday-Friday
Job Description:- The incumbent serves as a Teaching Assistant in the Education Department in a juvenile correctional facility.
- The incumbent supervises students in the classroom in the absence of the classroom teacher with responsibilities:
Attendance Taking, Behavior Monitoring, Assignment Monitoring, and Daily Record Monitoring. - The incumbent provides students with guidance in completing assignments left by the classroom teacher and supports classroom instruction as needed.
- The incumbent is responsible for effectively managing the classroom, participates in faculty and professional meetings, reports directly to the School Principal, performs duties with minimal supervision.
- Follow policy in critical incidents preventing injury, escape, or property damage.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Supervise daily work of students and evaluate achievement of individual student knowledge.
- Operate all job-related equipment.
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance the learning environment of students.
- Provide written reports to/participate in multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Attend and successfully complete all required training and certifications.
- Develop and review clear, accurate, and concise reports in compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Promote good working relationships with students, staff, contractual personnel, interns and volunteers, and applicable community public or private agencies.
- Maintain a positive image to the public in all related responsibilities.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Implement daily and weekly teacher lesson plans designed to enforce full course objectives in the absence of an educator.
- Create and provide a positive learning environment conducive to and supportive of individual growth and development of students.
- Maintain and control educational department supplies, equipment, and tools.
- Effectively communicate both orally and written.
- Work effectively in a teamwork environment.
- Accept supervision and constructive feedback.
- Test negative on all drug tests.
- Successfully complete all required training and certifications.
