Matchbook Learning is a non‑profit charter management organization based in Indianapolis, Indiana. We operate two schools:
Matchbook Learning at Wendell Phillips School 63, serving students in Kindergarten through 8th grade, and The Match High School and Career Center, which currently serves 9th and 10th grade students and will expand to include 11th grade students in the fall of 2026. Our mission is to personalize learning, within a restorative community, fostering resilience and excellence while preparing students for real‑world opportunities.

Wendell Phillips School 63 is seeking a Permanent Substitute Teacher for College & Career Readiness to support students in grades K–8. This full‑time, temporary contracted position pays $25.00 per hour and provides consistent daily coverage for our College & Career Readiness course, ensuring continuity, strong classroom culture, and meaningful student engagement. The role is low‑prep, high‑impact—lesson plans and instructional materials are fully provided.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver provided College & Career Readiness lesson plans to K–8 students.
- Facilitate discussions and activities related to careers, habits of success, leadership, and post‑secondary awareness.
- Maintain a positive, structured, and engaging classroom environment aligned with restorative practices.
- Build strong relationships with students to support attendance, motivation, and school culture.
- Demonstrate strong classroom management that is firm, fair, and consistent.
- Communicate regularly with school leadership regarding student progress and needs.
- Support daily transitions, attendance procedures, and classroom routines.
- High school diploma required (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Experience working with children in school, youth, or community settings preferred.
- Organized, punctual, reliable, and professional.
- Open‑minded and receptive to feedback, coaching, and support.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Committed to working through the end of the school year.
- Passion for student development, mentorship, and college & career readiness.
- English/Spanish bilingual.
- Certified pay: $25.00 per hour.
