Elementary School Associate Teacher (K-1st Grade) – Reports to VCP Elementary School Principal

The best candidates for this position will embody the values and beliefs at the heart of the VCP mission and vision.
- High School Diploma
- Substitute Teaching License (or willingness to obtain one when hired)
- 1-3 years of experience working with students/children
- Knowledge of No-Nonsense Nurturer and/or 4-Step Model for student behavior management helpful, but not required
- Ability to prioritize punctuality and attendance
- Work collaboratively with a lead teacher, maintaining a cooperative and effective working relationship
- Work with lead teacher to internalize rigorous, objective-driven lessons
- Lead whole-class instruction if lead teacher is absent
- Implement classroom procedures, systems, and routines that provide structure for students and maximize instructional time
- Regularly assess and track student performance toward ambitious student academic outcomes goals
- Use data to reflect on effectiveness of lessons and student achievement progress to improve instruction and teaching practice
- Communicate frequently and effectively with student families; promptly return phone calls and answer emails
- Build meaningful, positive relationships with all students
- Use restorative practices to build positive classroom culture
- Work with the Behavior Support team to address student emotional and mental well-being and needs
