Become a teacher in Indianapolis. Indianapolis Teaching Fellows (ITF) offers an accelerated pathway to a K‑12 teaching career by preparing individuals without teaching certification for success in Center Township schools.
Who We AreIndianapolis Teaching Fellows prepares individuals without teaching certification to become exceptional teachers and produce excellent educational outcomes for all students. We play a critical role in breaking down the socioeconomic and racial barriers that have denied our students access to an equitable education.
Who Our Students NeedWe recruit, train, certify, and support accomplished professionals, recent college graduates, and graduating seniors who aren’t yet certified but possess the dedication and content knowledge to teach in schools throughout Indianapolis.
Eligible Subjects- Early Childhood Education (PK‑3)
- Elementary (K‑6)
- Biology (Grades 5‑12)
- English as a Second Language (K‑12)
Base pay range: $50,000 / yr – $55,000 / yr. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience. Fellows will earn the same starting salary as a first‑year teacher, approximately $53,460 plus comprehensive benefits.

- Classroom‑Centered Preparation: Fellows participate in a six‑week training experience that centers around actual teaching in summer school classrooms.
- Full Salary and Benefits: Fellows work full‑time at a district or charter school and receive comprehensive benefits.
- Certification: During the first two years, Fellows complete certification coursework and earn a Master of Arts in Teaching. Tuition costs are approximately $14,790;
Fellows may qualify for Ameri Corps awards totaling $7,395. - Educator Excellence Collective (EEC): EEC offers tuition assistance, social events, mentoring, and licensed exam preparation.
- Must have a bachelor’s degree by June 2026.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and provide proof of permanent residency.
- Must not be a licensed teacher.
- Must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative undergraduate GPA, or a 2.5+ GPA plus professional experience.
GPA requirement will be reviewed upon request.
