Primary job responsibilities include:
- Develops and provides an effective comprehensive school counseling program to serve the needs of all students.
- Provides individual counseling services to meet the developmental, preventive and remedial needs of students.
- Implements appropriate and prevention-oriented group activities to meet student needs and school goals.
- Provides consultation to teachers and school leadership regarding information, strategies, and approaches for maximizing the total development of students
- Makes appropriate referrals to assist parents/families and students to obtain the benefit from community services
- Provides academic advising services to assigned students.
- Initiates and continually updates 4-year academic plans for assigned students.
- Assists with the development of class schedules. Conducts one-on-one interviews with returning and transfer students to create schedules for the following school year.
- Analyzes transcripts of transfer students to determine graduation progress and transfer credits.
- Oversees graduation requirements and credits. Monitor and report deficiencies.
- Monitors the “No Grade” report and academic support and remediation programs that are developed and implemented.
Job Requirements:
- 2 to 3 years’ experience in a culturally diverse high school preferred.
- Counseling license required.
- Experience leading groups and working in teams to achieve academic success.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
- Bachelors’ Degree required, Masters’ Degree required.
