Pay range:
Base pay range: $54,000.00/yr

Role and Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the team lead/elite teacher, the PSOE Classroom Teacher is responsible for direct instruction through curriculum implementation, lesson planning, data disaggregation, and classroom management.
  • Maintain compliance with individual student Education Plans, Section 504 Plans, etc.
  • Ensure operational and functional knowledge of best practices in education, state and federal education law, FERPA and FAPE law, parent relations, behavioral management, documentation, reporting, and process‑driven accountability.
Middle School Math (Grades 6-8)

At PSOE, middle school math teachers should demonstrate inspirational and creative qualities in curriculum, instruction, assessment, classroom management, professional responsibilities, professional relationships, family involvement, and school community.

Curriculum
  • Possess proficient understanding of integrated projects based instruction.
  • Possess proficient understanding and use of the Core Knowledge Sequence.
  • Math teachers: understand the strands, processes, and vocabulary of Everyday Mathematics.
  • Understand math content through senior‑level math courses.
  • Keep current with trends, pedagogy, issues, and topics of importance in mathematics education.
  • Have sufficient content knowledge for open‑ended math content where students are actively learning through exploration and problem solving.
Responsibilities
  • Possess a background in teaching a hands‑on math program or demonstrate an interest in such a program.
  • Be comfortable in student‑directed classrooms with exploration centers through integrated projects based instruction.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop a math concept with manipulatives.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop a math strand through several units.
  • Participate in mathematics professional development sessions to raise the level of instruction.
  • Integrate technology tools into the math curriculum and model effective use of the computer.
  • Provide direct instruction in whole-class, small group, and individual settings.
  • Utilize data‑driven instruction and educational frameworks to ensure delivery of standard‑driven instruction to all students.
  • Complete assessments, grading, planning, and conferences with students, staff, and families within appropriate timelines.
  • Seek oversight by team lead, elite teachers, special education director, school counselor, and other professional staff/outside agencies to support students with exceptional needs.
  • Ensure appropriate classroom implementation of BIP’s, FBA’s, IEP’s and 504 programs.
  • Complete any additional reporting as requested by special education director or counselor.
  • Develop and maintain regular family communication and community partnerships.
  • Complete reports and follow‑up documentation as required by administration.
  • Keep updated and documented cumulative folders for all current students.
  • Contribute to a strong school education team: serve on school and/or community committees; seek participation and involvement with direction for ongoing local operations.
  • Act as a professional advisor to the team lead/elite teacher on all aspects of classroom activities.
  • Abide by all instructional frameworks as approved by the CEO and staff handbook.
  • Maintain ongoing, consistent, and supportive communication for the classroom as noted in the school’s frameworks.
  • Assume all roles as delegated for a variety of school functions to manage the workload more efficiently.
  • Utilize effective systems to troubleshoot problems, track progress, and evaluate workflow components.
Program Planning and Management
  • Contribute to the organization’s mission and reflect the priorities of the school.
  • Assist in planning, implementation, execution, and evaluation of special projects.
  • Human resources planning and management.
  • Establish a positive, healthy, and safe work environment in accordance with FERPA, FAPE, Section 504, and special education regulations.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Valid Indiana State Teaching License or equivalent.
