The CTE Computer Science Teacher delivers high-quality instruction in computer science and related career-technical education pathways. This role focuses on preparing students with the technical, professional, and problem-solving skills needed for success in technology careers or postsecondary programs. The teacher designs engaging, standards-aligned curriculum that integrates real-world application and career readiness competencies.
Role Expectations (How we measure success)- Design and deliver lessons aligned with state CTE standards and computer science frameworks
- Incorporate project-based learning, hands‑on labs, and real-world problem-solving activities
- Provide timely academic feedback to students
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners
- Actively participate in the TAP teacher evaluation system
- Use formative, summative, and standardized assessments to inform instruction
- Seek to improve performance through professional development
- Keep accurate grade and attendance records
- Build a classroom culture that fosters belongingness and safety for students
- Communicate consistently and frequently with parents/guardians
- Build effective relationships with teachers, students, and staff
- Exhibit professional habits including attire, timeliness, attendance, and communication
- Fulfill non-academic responsibilities including lunch coverage, hallway monitor, arrival/dismissal supervision
- Be involved in school community through participation in clubs, sports, tutoring, and other activities
- Strive to work and live by The Irvington Way
- All other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in education required
- Valid Indiana teaching license required (Computer Science or related field)
- Strong technology skills, competent in the use of Google applications
- Flexible mindset with the willingness to adapt quickly to change
- Willingness to follow classroom discipline policies and procedures
