Position: Academic OB Hospitalist/Laborist Faculty - Riley Maternity Tower (IU Health)
Location: Indianapolis

IU Health and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Indiana University School of Medicine are seeking an OB Laborist to join our patient-centered obstetric care model. This position offers a collaborative working environment at Riley Children s Maternity Tower, a state-of-the-art facility with private labor and delivery space and access to a full range of maternity options in an academic setting.

Riley Maternity Tower at IU Health is Indiana s premier maternal and newborn facility, serving a socially and ethnically diverse population in the Indianapolis metro area and high-risk maternity patients throughout the state. Services include a Level IV OB-ED/ICU, Level IV NICU, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Neonatologists, Certified Nurse Midwives, Advanced Practice Providers (NP, PA), and other specialty women s care. Highlights
  • Offering 12- or 24-hour shifts providing patient care as part of a skilled, cohesive, and collaborative team including laborists, generalists, midwives, and APPs. High-risk OB patients are supported by the MFM and critical care teams. As the state s leading academic center, IUSM fellows, residents, and medical students work alongside providers as part of the care team model.
  • Key responsibilities include deliveries (vaginal and cesarean), evaluating and managing antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients, assisting obstetric triage and emergencies on the labor and delivery unit; implementing protocols for optimal patient care and quality.
  • IUSM Assistant or Associate Professor clinical position with academic responsibilities of teaching and supervising residents and medical students with some scholarly activity/faculty engagement.
Qualifications
  • ABMS Obstetrics & Gynecology residency program — experienced physicians and new graduates welcome to apply.
  • Board certified/eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
  • MD/DO eligible for and able to maintain an Indiana State medical license.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment in a large, dynamic health system.
  • This position is eligible for visa sponsorship: H1B.

IU Health and IU School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology physicians deliver at the Maternity Tower at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, IN. Opened in 2021, the tower supports traditional birth plans and provides access to nationally ranked pediatric and adult specialists to care for high-risk pregnancies and babies with critical needs. The facility is designed so that pregnant patients and newborns have access to highly skilled care under the same roof.

The Maternity Tower houses maternal-fetal medicine specialists, midwifery services, an obstetrical intensive care unit (one of a handful in the nation), an obstetrical emergency unit, and a Level IV NICU.
