Job Role Summary

An Occupational Health Physician of Eskenazi Medical Group (EMG) provides the full scope of services which fall under their individual field of training, including but not limited to diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, preventive care, and health maintenance. In addition, an Occupational Health Physician is a member of the Eskenazi Health team. In that capacity, they are expected to be committed to the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Clinic and work collaboratively to achieve them.

It is the responsibility of the Occupational Health Physician to model and uphold the mission, vision, and standard of performance within the health clinic. The Occupational Health Physician must be cognizant of and comply with all clinic policies and procedures, EMG employment requirements and procedures, as well as pertinent state and federal regulations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Provide physical assessment and history of employee's capability to work and maintain health within safety standards.
  • Provide effective medical treatment and management of injuries and illnesses for employees, including follow-ups and referrals.
  • Document assessment, diagnosis, and treatment consistent with state and federal standards and laws.
  • Demonstrate skill in evaluating, treating, and managing work-related injury/illness.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with OSHA regulations in the workplace and hospital setting.
  • Understand work-related injuries and return to work policies.
  • Understand government regulated management of exposure to infectious diseases.
  • Review and order immunizations as recommended by the Center of Disease Control (CDC) and the infection control committee.
  • Review and document status reports.
  • Monitor health status of employees.
  • Implement occupational and environmental health and safety education for staff.
  • Research current legislation that impacts practice, workers, and the workplace.
