Location: Indianapolis

We are seeking a skilled Neonatologist to deliver specialized care for critically ill and premature infants in Level III and IV NICUs at our facility. This role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including maternal-fetal medicine and pediatric subspecialists. Responsibilities include daytime attending duties, participation in high-risk delivery services, night call coverage, and active involvement in academic and quality improvement projects. A faculty appointment at the local medical school is available, and candidates must hold board certification in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine.

Our organization is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Neonatologist to join our esteemed team in Indianapolis. As a leader in neonatal care, we treat over 3,500 newborns each year across our Level IV and Level III NICUs. Our multidisciplinary team, which includes board-certified neonatologists, advanced practice providers, and pediatric subspecialists, offers comprehensive, lifesaving care that often begins before birth and continues throughout the NICU stay and beyond.

We collaborate closely with maternal-fetal medicine, pediatric surgical and medical subspecialties, and neurodevelopmental follow-up programs to ensure family-centered care. This is an exciting chance to be part of a vibrant academic environment where your clinical skills, enthusiasm for teaching, and commitment to innovation will have a significant impact.

This role will focus on the neonatal intensive care units at our facility, which is recognized for providing the most advanced and comprehensive neonatal care in Indiana. The Martha Ann (Rieth) Van Dyke NICU, a 60-bed Level IV unit located in the Simon Family Tower, offers the highest level of care for premature and critically ill newborns. Our program consistently ranks among the top in the nation according to various reports and is noted for handling complex patient cases.

Additionally, Riley Maternity Tower features a 45-bed Level III NICU, a dedicated labor and delivery unit, and one of the few obstetrical intensive care units in the country. Our facility also includes the Heart Center NICU, which has specialized beds for cardiac intensive care newborns, along with a newly established 12‑bed Progressive Care NICU. Together, these units create the largest NICU in Indiana and one of the largest in the United States, providing unparalleled opportunities for clinical practice, education, and innovation in maternal and neonatal medicine.

Clinical

& Academic Responsibilities
  • Act as a primary daytime attending physician in one or more of our neonatal intensive care units, including the 60‑bed Level IV NICU and the 45‑bed Level III NICU.
  • Engage in high‑risk delivery services and provide consultative care for complex obstetric cases, collaborating closely with maternal‑fetal medicine specialists and the obstetrical ICU team.
  • Participate in night call duties, which include in‑house coverage during weeknights and weekends, ensuring continuity of care for critically ill newborns.
  • Contribute actively to the Division of Neonatal‑Perinatal Medicine by educating medical students, pediatric residents, neonatal fellows, and advanced practice providers.
  • Experience in quality improvement initiatives or developing clinical guidelines to standardize care is highly regarded.
  • Opportunities for academic involvement and scholarly activities are encouraged, with a faculty appointment available based on experience and academic interests.

We offer competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including retirement plans, relocation assistance, vacation time, continuing medical education (CME) support, and potential quality bonuses.

Qualifications
  • Completion of a pediatric residency and a fellowship in neonatal‑perinatal medicine.
  • Board eligible or board certified in pediatrics and neonatal‑perinatal medicine.
  • MD/DO licensed or eligible for licensure in Indiana.
