The collegial, professional, and highly-skilled nephrology team at IU Health is seeking a Transplant Nephrologist to join as an academic clinician. IU Health kidney transplant specialists help adult and pediatric patients with end-stage kidney disease through every stage of the transplant experience. We perform a high volume of kidney transplants – from the routine to the most complex. We also have a living kidney donation program for individuals who wish to donate a kidney to someone they know or to someone anonymously.
Transplant program highlights: performed kidney transplants for over 50 years at more than 200 transplants per year, comprising 73% of all kidney and kidney/pancreas transplants in the state in 2019.
- Care for nephrology patients that are pre and/or post kidney, pancreas, or liver transplant
- Inpatient rounding, outpatient and outreach clinics
- Faculty appointment with the Indiana University School of Medicine, with expectation to teach residents and fellows and opportunities for research if desired

- Primarily outpatient care based at Academic Health Center with 1‑2 outreach clinics per month

With 1,000 beds, IU Health Methodist Hospital is a large tertiary referral center with over 130 ICU beds. It serves as the largest trauma center in Indianapolis, as well as a highly subspecialized center for cardiovascular surgery, thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, lung transplantation, and neurocritical care.
IU Health is building a new downtown hospital and campus, which will consolidate operations of the adjacent IU Health Methodist and University Hospitals. Construction for the new hospital is well underway and set to open in late 2027. It will feature three 16‑story towers with 864 beds. IU School of Medicine is also constructing a medical education and research building directly east of the new hospital.
