Role Overview
The Licensed Architect with EDGE Design is responsible for leading architectural design, review, and stamping approval of architectural plans. This role ensures that architectural standards, design guidelines, and business objectives align in the design and implementation of projects. This role provides technical expertise to ensure all designs meet industry standards and business goals while driving efficiency. This role drives architectural excellence to ensure that designs meet functional, aesthetic, and regulatory requirements.
A deep understanding of structural integrity, safety regulations, and professional ethics is required to comply with local, state, and federal building codes and zoning regulations.
- Oversee the conceptualization, design, and execution of high-quality architectural solutions.
- Establish and enforce architectural design standards, documentation, and review processes.
- Develop and implement architectural strategies aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices.
- Identify and mitigate potential design and construction risks, ensuring structural integrity and functionality.
- Lead architectural design projects, ensuring compliance with zoning laws, accessibility requirements, building codes, energy codes, environmental regulations, and internal design standards.
- Review architectural drawings, blueprints, and construction documents for accuracy and compliance before stamping and approving.
- Review and respond to submittals, RFIs, shop drawings and provide timely technical responses during construction administration.
- Collaborate with city officials, permitting agencies, and inspectors to facilitate project approvals and permitting processes.
- Collaborate with various assigned consultants, including EDGE contracted and owner provided.
- Oversee project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Maintain detailed records of stamped plans, approvals, and any modifications for legal and compliance purposes.
- Provide technical expertise and recommendations to clients, contractors, and developers to resolve compliance issues.
- Stay current with advancements in building materials, digital design tools, BIM technologies, and sustainability practices.
- Mentor architects and design team.
- Maintain high level of design quality while meeting project schedules and budgets.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture or a related field.
- Licensed Architect with relevant certifications (e.g., AIA, RIBA, LEED accreditation preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in architectural design, project management, and leadership roles.
- Proven experience with Market Rate, Workforce Housing, and tax credit preferred.
- Skillset specializing in podium design is a plus.
- Proficiency in architectural software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch Up, and BIM tools.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Expertise in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM software, Sketch Up, Adobe Creative Suite, and other architectural tools.
- Experience with large‑scale multi‑family or residential projects.
- Expertise in integrating technology practices into architectural design.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize deadlines effectively.
- Commitment to upholding professional responsibility in plan stamping and approvals.
- Strong understanding of urban planning and land‑use regulations.
- Strong understanding of zoning laws, life safety, accessibility requirements, building codes, energy codes, and environmental regulations.
- Ability to build internal and external relationships with key stakeholders and city officials.
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving, collaboration, and time‑management skills.
- Able to work in unison with a team.
