Position OverviewThe Indy Arts Council seeks a part-time Public Art Administration Apprentice to provide administrative support on a new public art project at the Indiana Fever Sports Performance Center. This apprenticeship provides hands‑on learning experience to develop public art project management skills while contributing to an exciting new landmark facility. The position involves executing assigned tasks either collaboratively or under direct supervision.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe apprentice will work with Julia Moore, Director of Public Art, and will help manage the commissioning of a major new mural as well as other associated projects. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting artist correspondence
- Expense reporting and project documentation
- Supporting on‑site facilitation
- Marketing and promotional assistance
- Supporting dedication event planning
- Other administrative tasks, as needed.
- The apprenticeship provides a stipend of $10,000. (Averages to $25/hr)
- The apprenticeship requires an average of 10‑15 hrs per week, not to exceed 400 hrs total over nine months.
- The apprenticeship term starts on February 2, 2026, and ends on October 30, 2026.
- At least two half‑days in the office are required, with additional in‑person time required during peak project periods (August/September).
- Free surface lot parking is provided.
- Additional learning and development opportunities are available.
- This is a temporary part‑time contract position and does not include employee benefits or company‑provided equipment.
- You do not need to have a diploma or degree to apply for this role!
- Relevant education or coursework could include visual arts, arts administration, art history, museum studies, office administration, project management, or similar fields.
- Relevant experience (any length, paid or volunteer) could include studio‑based visual arts or art history, arts administration, public administration, accounting/finance, business administration, project or event management, public art project support, marketing/communications, or work in an office or arts environment.
- Due to funding requirements, applicants must already be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application.
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written, via email, phone, and video conference platforms
- Strong computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Office products
- Basic math and spreadsheet skills for budgeting and expense tracking (Excel or Google Sheets preferred)
- Experience with or willingness to learn new software (Google Workspace, , etc.)
- Familiarity with visual arts forms, terminology, and techniques is a plus
- Creative and resourceful
- Highly organized and detail‑oriented
- Able to manage multiple tasks effectively
