About Our Episode Producer, The Deck

The Episode Producer plays a key role in producing video episodes of The Deck for You Tube and Audiochuck’s forthcoming FAST streaming channel, while also supporting audio production through multimedia assets. This role partners closely with reporters, hosts, and editorial leadership from the earliest stages of story development—conceptualizing episodes for both video and audio and working in lock-step with story teams throughout reporting and production.

The Episode Producer ensures episodes are editorially strong, factually accurate, visually compelling, and aligned with Audiochuck’s victim-centered, ethical approach to storytelling.

What You’ll Do
  • Produce assigned episodes from concept through final delivery for video and audio platforms
  • Collaborate with reporters, producer-shooters, and camera operators to create original visual elements that elevate storytelling
  • Partner with graphic designers to develop maps, motion graphics, and visual explainers that enhance audience understanding
  • Source and manage archival video, images, and visual references for episodes
  • Coordinate outreach to law enforcement, family members, and key sources for interviews, information, and original footage
  • Work with the legal team to submit FOIAs for case materials, including body camera footage
  • Create clip selects to support reporters during script development and writing
  • Ensure accuracy, context, sensitivity, and narrative cohesion across all episode materials
  • Support host recording sessions by preparing scripts, providing editorial context, and ensuring consistency
  • Lead video edit sessions and support audio edits, providing detailed notes on pacing, tone, and story flow
  • Ensure accuracy of spelling, grammar, and clarity for all on-screen text
  • Manage episode timelines to meet production calendars and delivery deadlines
  • Track milestones and proactively communicate progress, risks, and challenges to show leadership
  • Participate in editorial meetings, pitch sessions, and creative discussions
  • Contribute to story framing, investigative approaches, and audience engagement strategies
  • Utilize performance data to improve viewer engagement and retention
What You Will Bring to the Table
  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5 years of experience in editorial production, podcasting, or investigative storytelling
  • Strong narrative and storytelling skills with experience structuring longform content
  • Deep research skills and familiarity with public records and sourcing best practices
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency with Avid and/or Premiere, Wrike, Google Workspace, Airtable, or similar editorial tools
  • Preferred:
    Experience in true crime or longform investigative storytelling
