Description

Job Purpose:

Interns at Blakley's Commercial Flooring Division will gain hands‑on experience in both field operations and office management within the commercial flooring division. This role is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the industry by splitting time between being a field Superintendent and collaborating with Project Managers and Estimators. The intern will learn the practical aspects of fieldwork as well as the strategic elements of project management and estimation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the field Superintendent in overseeing daily operations and ensuring project timelines are met.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Estimators to understand project requirements and contribute to planning and execution.
  • Participate in site visits to gain practical insights into the commercial flooring processes.
  • Support the team in maintaining accurate project documentation and reports.
  • Engage in learning opportunities to understand both the technical and administrative aspects of the flooring division.
  • Contribute to team meetings and discussions, offering fresh perspectives and innovative ideas.
  • Develop a foundational knowledge of safety standards and quality control measures in the field.
Qualifications

Required

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university, preferably pursuing a degree related to construction management, business, or a related field. Candidates with relevant experience will also be considered.

Required Experience:

  • Previous experience or exposure to the construction or flooring industry is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Experience in a professional setting that demonstrates strong organizational and communication skills.

Required

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to both field and office environments.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with team members and clients.
  • Basic understanding of project management principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and an ability to learn new software tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to take initiative and show enthusiasm for learning and development in the commercial flooring division.
