Position Overview

Woolpert is hiring a Civil Construction Inspector to join our dynamic Construction, Engineering, and Inspection (CE&I) team at our Indianapolis office. The Civil Construction Inspector assists in the construction of public and private infrastructure projects and works with other Construction Managers, Design Engineers, Project Managers, Practice Leaders, and Market Directors for civil engineering projects in the Aviation, Water, and Transportation Markets.

We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country where the job is located.

What You Will Do
  • Perform construction management duties with increasing responsibility
  • Analyze programs independently and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria
  • Apply professional judgment and discretion while consistently following Woolpert procedures
  • Conduct quality control reviews and assist with quality assurance procedures within areas of expertise
  • Manage inspections of construction projects and materials for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and approved construction plans/specifications
  • Ensure inspections are completed according to contract protocols
  • Review and interpret construction documents, site drawings, as‑built drawings, and specifications
  • Resolve minor operational issues through coordination with other departments
  • Communicate with contractors regarding test failures
  • Manage subordinate managers and professionals in moderate‑complexity groups
  • Provide input to strategic decisions affecting the functional area of responsibility
  • Produce daily and weekly reports
What You Will Bring
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Construction Management degree and/or 5–10+ years of construction experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel)
  • Effective interpersonal skills at all levels
  • Knowledge of construction management, inspections, methods and materials
  • Knowledge of contract administration and pay estimates
  • Knowledge of soil analysis, materials, compaction, and density tests
  • Experience with engineering practices, including dredging projects
  • Familiarity with construction observation reporting and procedures
  • Daily reporting skills and accurate quantity tracking
  • Communication skills with clients and staff
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
  • 10‑Hour OSHA Construction Certificate or ability to obtain
  • Ability to visit and safely traverse construction sites and comply with safety codes and requirements
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D (a plus)
  • DOT certifications or ability to obtain in a timely manner
  • Material testing certifications or ability to obtain in a timely manner
