Sr. Construction Project Manager - Pharmaceutical Construction

Sr. Construction Project Manager

This Senior Construction Project Manager will work in pharmaceutical construction, overseeing complex capital projects, such as the construction or renovation of laboratories, manufacturing facilities, clean rooms, R&D centers, and GMP-compliant spaces.

Role Expectations and Competencies
Project Planning & Initiation

• Define project scope, goals, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Develop detailed project execution plans (PEP), schedules, budgets, and resource allocations.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, validation, and quality teams early in planning.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Coordination

• Lead cross-functional teams including architects, engineers, construction managers, QA/QC, validation, and contractors.
• Serve as the main point of contact for stakeholders, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
• Manage internal project team performance and external consultants.

Construction Management

• Oversee construction activities, ensuring adherence to design, budget, and schedule.
• Manage contractor RFPs, selection, contracts, and performance.
• Ensure all construction meets cGMP, FDA, EMA, and EHS standards.
• Review and approve design submittals, RFIs, and change orders.

Budget & Schedule Control

• Develop and manage project budgets (often $10M-$100M+), including forecasting and cost control.
• Monitor project schedules with critical path analysis tools (Primavera P6, MS Project).
• Mitigate risks that may affect cost or schedule, including scope creep and regulatory delays.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in commercial construction, with at least 5+ years in healthcare construction
• Bachelor's degree in construction management and/or related field
• Highly proficient in the use of CM applications, including but not limited to Procore, Vista, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Applications
