Summary:
Chief of Staff to the COO
The Chief of Staff to the COO serves as a key strategic and operational partner to OIA Global’s Chief Operating Officer and Regional/Functional leadership, supporting the identification, development, and execution of high-value initiatives across the company’s Freight Forwarding and Contract Logistics businesses. This role acts as a strategic thought partner and operational integrator for the COO, directly influencing decision‑making and ensuring strategic initiatives translate into measurable business outcomes.
The Chief of Staff will work across all regions, functions, and senior leaders within OIA’s network of 50+ locations in 30+ countries - serving as an extension of the COO to accelerate execution, resolve bottlenecks, and drive enterprise‑level clarity. This is a highly dynamic role suited for a proactive leader who thrives in complexity, enjoys building structure in ambiguous environments, and excels in turning strategy into action.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act as a right hand to the COO, supporting the design, prioritization, and implementation of high-impact strategic initiatives that enhance efficiency, growth, and profitability across global operations.
- Serve as an extension of the COO by ensuring priorities are clearly communicated, delegated, and executed across the organization.
- Independently take ownership of ambiguous or underperforming areas of the business, conduct root ‑ cause analyses, and build action plans to drive strategic, operational, and financial improvements.
- Develop and manage structured project plans, ensuring that milestones, deliverables, and KPI targets are clearly defined and met for high-priority global initiatives.
- Stand up new programs from scratch, coordinating cross ‑ functional teams to move initiatives forward.
- Translate complex operational and financial insights into executive ‑ ready narratives, dashboards, and presentations.
- Balance strategic initiative design and execution with ongoing operational rhythm support ensure visibility, accountability, and discipline across operations.
- Facilitate adoption of major initiatives by engaging cross-functional stakeholders, delivering transparent communication, and supporting adoption of new processes and operating models.
- Identify new opportunities to improve the core business in line with OIA’s multi-year strategy, preparing and leading the execution of project plans to achieve desired value creation.
- Scrutinize company financials and operational KPIs, recognizing and highlighting notable trends and providing actionable feedback to segment leadership.
- Partner with leaders around the world to understand regional needs, harmonize best practices, and ensure coordinated progress across the OIA Logistics organization.
- Contribute to the commercial and operational integration of acquisitions within OIA’s Logistics network.
- Act as a trusted representative of the COO in meetings with senior leaders, customers, and partners, building trust with those groups and managing across through relationships and capability.
- Engage with key client and partner stakeholders to strengthen relationships and strategic alignment between OIA Logistics and our partners.
