Role Overview
:
The Communications Consultant is responsible for creating and implementing comprehensive communications plans. This role involves managing internal and external communications, overseeing agency sponsor ships and events, and supporting the Webmaster and Graphic Designer in their tasks.
Salary Statement
:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $59,800.00.
A Day in the Life:The essential functions of this role are as follows:
- Expertly create and distribute a wide range of communications materials, including memos, emails, manuals, and more.
- Exceptional skills in grammar and proofreading, ensuring all communications are clear, concise, and free of errors, while maintaining clarity, consistency, and alignment with the agency's objectives.
- Advanced experience in managing social media platforms, developing content, monitoring engagement, and responding to interactions.
- Skilled in building and maintaining strong relationships with media outlets, ensuring timely and accurate dissemination of information.
- Oversee partnerships and events, including the Indiana State Fair and other agency events.
- Assist with video and photo production, including filming, editing, and producing content.
- Help maintain and update the agency website and internal SharePoint site.
- Possess advanced skills in design programs and extensive experience with all phases of the design process.
- Adept at creating high-quality posters, brochures, flyers, and other print materials that effectively convey the agency's message.
- Conduct detailed analytics reporting to measure the effectiveness of various campaigns and other communications efforts.
- Assist in creating comprehensive communications strategies to effectively promote the agency's objectives and engage target audiences.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
What You'll Need for Success:This person must have the following requirements to be considered for employment:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Administration, Business, or other related field preferred
- Four (4+) years of relevant experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of agency policies and procedures
- Knowledge of Federal and state rules and regulations relating to motor vehicle laws
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow agency employees and relevant outside stakeholders
- Ability to create, maintain and improve the BMV’s culture of teamwork, excellent customer service and cost-effective use of the people’s resources
- Ability to treat all state employees with courtesy and respect
- Ability to discharge all job responsibilities with integrity
