Job Description:

Primary Purpose of Role:
This position combines the core commercial and strategic responsibilities of a Commodity Manager along with project management skills required to support assigned direct material contracting for Electronics and Complex Electrical Assemblies. The Commodity Manager develops and manages working relationships with both internal stakeholders and suppliers of materials and services. These strategies support business objectives related to short‑term and long‑term supply continuity.

The Commodity Manager collaborates with the functional stakeholders to identify cost reduction opportunities and develop strategies to implement them. The Commodity Manager is responsible to lead supplier negotiations - including the agreements and associated terms and conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyzes commodity spend data, market trends, emerging issues, and other dynamics along with the assigned functional business owner to develop cost reduction strategies.
  • Leads supplier negotiations in support of executing supply agreements and ensuring supplier’s conformance to company’s terms and conditions. Continuously monitors agreements and expectations. Partners closely with legal department in working contract language.
  • Presents to senior management procurement opportunities and associated analysis that are aligned with corporate strategic plans and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Active team participant on program management teams with respect to compliant and timely development of sourcing solutions for projects and other outside services. This requires adherence to the associated corporate, Purchasing, and applicable regulations or procedures on several simultaneous projects.
  • Recommends innovative alternatives that drive mutually beneficial solutions for the business owners, the company, and the supplier; applies critical thinking in evaluating strategic sourcing alternatives.
  • Mentors less experienced peers in sourcing strategies, managing commodity categories, further developing supplier relationships and more.
  • Leverages enterprise software solutions to identify procurement opportunities, solutions to various issues, and to realize cost savings.
  • Maintains a physical presence in the workplace.
Competencies and Behaviors

Required:
  • Exposure to corporate environment or manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Understanding of contract language and commercial requirements.
  • Demonstrated negotiation, analytical, time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to be a trusted advisor to stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Communicate effectively and build strong, sustainable relationships with both internal stakeholders and vendors.
  • Balances time between daily operation activities and strategic planning/projects.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient with SAP and Ariba, or other ERP / P2P solutions.
  • Subject matter expert level experience in procurement categories.
  • Project management skills.
